Omiš
The attractive Cetina canyon is one of the most beautiful attractions in the entire Dalmatia. It is located in the hinterland of the town of Omiš, where Cetina river flows into the Adriatic sea. The canyon is imposing due to its size and several hundred meters tall steep cliffs. The emerald green Cetina river is full of waterfalls and rapids, which attracts many nature lovers. The course of the river is 105 km long, and Cetina springs in Dinara mountain. Due to its preserved natural habitat, rich flora and fauna, Cetina canyon has been granted the status of a protected landscape. Cetina canyon is an ideal place for trips, extreme sports, adventures, walks and active holidays - rafting, kayaking, zipline, cycling, canoeing, hiking, and alpine climbing. On Cetina river, close to Omiš, there are popular picnic areas such as Radman mills ("Radmanove mlinice") and Kaštil Slanica where you can taste delicious local cuisine (soparnik, lamb under "peka", frogs, trout, eels, seafood).
Omiš
Velika Plaža (big beach) is the most popular beach on the Omiš Riviera. As its name suggests, it is the largest and most beautiful beach in Omiš, located in the very center of the city. This 700-meter-long sandy beach is ideal for families with small children, but also for all those who like sports activities and an active vacation because it offers a handful of activities such as volleyball, beach soccer, windsurfing, jet-skiing... The beach is very well organized and there are several bars, snack bars, showers, sanitary facilities, and the possibility of renting umbrellas and sunbeds so that you can spend the whole day carefree swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the smells of the sea, tamarisk and pine trees. The entrance to the crystal clear sea is shallow, and the shallow reaches up to a hundred meters from the beach. In the immediate vicinity is the mouth of the Cetina river into the Adriatic Sea, so the beach was formed by the deposition of fine and clean river sand. Paid public parking is located in the immediate vicinity, and people with disabilities have an elevator for easier access to the sea. Although the beach is a very popular destination during the summer months when the crowds are the biggest, due to the size and spaciousness of the beach you can always find a quiet corner for you and your family.
Omiš
The Starigrad fortress (Fortica) is a fortress from the 15th century that is located on a 300-meter-high rock above the town of Omiš. It was built as a primary defense against the Ottoman Empire. It served as a lookout point for monitoring the entire coast and hinterland and shelter for the local population in case of an attack by the Turks. The two-story square tower stands at the highest point of the fortress and offers an unforgettable view of the entire town of Omiš, the Cetina river canyon, Mosor mountain, and the islands of Brač, Hvar, and Šolta. You can reach the fortress from the center of Omiš by a well-maintained and marked hiking trail. Another, easier and faster way is by car, through the village of Baučići, and the fortress is about 20 minutes away on foot. For the ascent, you will be rewarded by enjoying beautiful and unforgettable views from one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the Adriatic.
