Ližnjan is a small fishing and agricultural village and municipality in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is located in the southeast of the Istrian peninsula, on a small hill overlooking the sea and the Kuje bay. From the top, there are beautiful views of the bay and the islands of Cres and Lošinj. Municipality of Ližnjan consists of several smaller villages: Šišan, Jadreški, Valtura, and Muntić. Ližnjan was mentioned for the first time in the 12th century under the name Lisianum. Origin of the name comes from the ancient Romans who in ancient times here possessed the land. In the 14th century, Ližnjan became part of the estate Pula diocese, and until the 18th century, this area was managed by the Venetians. In the 19th century, Ližnjan began with its development, parallel to the industrial development of the nearby town of Pula. Today, Ližnjan is still mostly fishing and agricultural town, but tourism is developing rapidly, and accommodation is offered in comfortable apartments, rooms, holiday homes, and the local farms in the area. Ližnjan beach is located in Kuje bay, only one kilometer from the town center. Ližnjan beach is a pebble and rock beach with very clear seawater with several beach bars. Near the coast, there is a small island Levan, with a beautiful beach and two restaurants, which can be reached by taxi boat. Lovers of active holidays can enjoy diving, windsurfing, biking trails, horseback riding, and hunting in the surrounding dense oak forests.
