Rakovica Rakovica is a small village and municipality in the county of Karlovac in Croatia. It is located in the central part of Croatia, Kordun between Karlovac and Plitvice lakes. Rakovica has a prominent place in the history of Croatia where in 1871 revolt broke out, led by Eugen Kvaternik who was ultimately unsuccessful attempt to establish the free Croatian state. Rakovica municipality has about 3,000 inhabitants who are engaged mainly in agriculture and tourism. The immediate vicinity of the Plitvice lakes is one of the main sources of income for local residents. Tourism and diverse offer of private accommodation and local indigenous products such as cheese and honey are the main source of income.
