Tourist info Daruvar
Daruvar is a town in central Croatia, situated in a hilly area at the foot of the Papuk Mountains. It is one of the best-loved small towns in continental Croatia due to the unique combination of greenery, landscaped parks and city architecture, cultural diversity and fertile vineyards. Daruvar was once called Podborje, but the name changed in the 18th century after Count Antun Janković built a baroque castle and called it Daruvar (in Hungarian - Crain town). The Janković Castle is the most famous and most impressive building in Daruvar built in the late Baroque style, from 1771 to 1777. Close to the city center, there are two well-groomed parks and forest park which are discreetly linked with the city's architecture. Daruvar is a well-known spa town with famous Daruvar's thermal baths, located in the very heart of the city, on the very springs of medicinal thermal water and mineral mud, surrounded by a large and beautifully landscaped park of monumental architecture and great horticultural value.
