Novi Vinodolski is a tourist town in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. It is situated on the slopes of a steep hill on the coast between Crikvenica and Senj. From the city of Rijeka is 40 kilometers away and from the airport on the island Krk only 30 kilometers away. It was first mentioned in written historical documents in the Vinodol Code from the 13th century. Then the entire metropolitan area belonged to the old Croatian aristocratic family Frankopan. In the late 19th century began tourist era of Novi Vinodolski when was built several wooden platforms for swimming, but soon after emerged the first hotel and the city developed into an attractive sanatorium and resort for Austrian, Hungarian and Czech guests. Today, besides agriculture and viticulture, the locals are mainly engaged in tourism and provide services of private accommodation in apartments and rooms inside their family homes. Thanks to its long history and because it was once the cultural and political center of the former Vinodol principality, the town preserved many historical monuments.
