Gradac Gradac is the administrative center of the municipality and the southernmost tourist resort on the Makarska riviera. It is situated in the southernmost part of Split-Dalmatia County in Croatia. It is located about 40 kilometers south of Makarska, and about halfway between Split and Dubrovnik. Municipality Gradac includes four picturesque tourist towns scattered along the ten kilometers of coastline: Zaostrog, Podaca, Brist, and Gradac. Under the current name, Gradac was first mentioned in the seventeenth century. Named after the fort which was located on a hill above the present church of St. Michael, which served as a defense against the Turks. Gradac is characterized by a pleasant climate throughout the year, and the number of sunny days per year, along with island of Hvar, is in the very top of the whole Adriatic. From a total of 15 kilometers of the coast of the riviera Gradac, natural pebbles beaches make up some ten kilometers. 7 kilometers of beaches are in the very tourist areas, which provides guests with plenty of space for privacy and intimacy.
