Kršan is a picturesque medieval village and municipality in Istria in Croatia. It is located on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula at the foot of the slopes of the mount of Učka, and is located 11 kilometers from Labin. The municipality consists of 24 small villages and hamlets with a total population of about 3,000 inhabitants. The village and municipality were built near to a medieval castle, which is today one of the best-preserved castles in Istria. The newer part of town is situated on the intersection between Labin and Rijeka. Throughout its tumultuous history, Kršan castle changed many rulers. For the first time, the castle was mentioned in the 13th century as Castrum Carsach, when it was under the rule of Pazin principality (the Austrian part of Istria). The origin of today's name of Kršan is most likely from the owners from the 15th century, the family Cherstlein de Pisino which people at that time began to call them von Karscheyner. Family crest had arrowhead, which until today remained motive on Kršan's coat of arms. Today Kršan successfully develops businesses, agriculture and cattle breeding, and it is becoming a recognizable tourist destination with many holiday homes and interesting events such as the Festival of wild plants, Krafifest, Kršonski pir, Days of Istrian bluebell, Festival of hunting - Hubertfest and others. The municipality of Kršan has access to the sea in the bay of Plomin and the small fishing village of Plomin Luka.
