Tourist info Skrad

Skrad is a small town and municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. It is located in a hilly area of the central part of Gorski Kotar at 700 m above sea level. From Delnice is about 15 kilometers away and it has a population of 1000 inhabitants. Skrad is a relatively new village and was first mentioned in the late 17th century when it was founded by eight families of serfs who received land in the area of the former owners, the Counts Zrinski. The rapid development begins in the early 19th century after the completion of the Louisiana road that linked cities Karlovac and Rijeka. Sometime later was built a railway line which also enhanced economic growth and development of this region. The inhabitants are mainly engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, and tourism, which has a long tradition.
