Delnice is a small town in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. It is situated in Gorski Kotar in the high mountainous plateau 700 meters above sea level, which is surrounded by high mountains above 1500 meters above sea level. Delnice is also the center of the mountainous region of Croatia, dominated by mountain climate with long, snowy winters and short and cool summers. The whole area of Gorski Kotar is rich in beech, spruce and fir forests inhabited by deers, bears and wolves and many rodents and various species of birds and insects. It was first mentioned in the 15th century as a property of the Frankopan family who, during the Middle Ages contributed to the development of this region. Residents of Delnice and the surrounding area has traditionally been engaged in forestry and wood industries, but thanks to the preserved nature and very good connection with the highway to Zagreb and Rijeka slowly is developing tourism.
