Štinjan Štinjan is a small tourist village in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is located in the southwest of the Istrian peninsula, only 5 kilometers from Pula. Štinjan has about 1,300 inhabitants and administratively belongs to the city of Pula. The center is located on a small hill about 50 meters above sea level, from where is a beautiful view of the Brijuni islands. It was first mentioned in Roman times under the name Astinianum when it was an agricultural area nearby Pula. From the 13th century is under the rule of the Venetian Republic, and from the 18th century under the Austrian empire.
