Fažana is a small tourist town and municipality in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is located on the west coast of Istria near the town of Pula and Brijuni islands. It has about 3,500 inhabitants, and to the municipality of Fažana belongs nearby village of Valbandon. It was first mentioned in the 12th century when it belonged to the diocese of Pula. However, this area was inhabited during the ancient times, when it was an important commercial port where wine and olive oil were traded.
