Premantura is a small town situated on the southernmost part of the Istrian peninsula. It is located in the municipality of Medulin and it is situated about 10 km south of Pula. Although this area has been inhabited since ancient times, Premantura in its present form is formed in the late 16th century when families from surroundings of Zadar settled here escaping from the Turks. In the 18th century began development of Premantura which was developed thanks to the rapid industrial development of the town of Pula. Throughout history, residents of Premantura were engaged in traditional activities: agriculture, cattle breeding, and fisheries. Today Premantura has about 850 inhabitants who, together with fishing and farming are mainly engaged in tourism and offer a service of quality accommodation in apartments, rooms and holiday homes within their private family houses.
