Sukošan is a small tourist town in Dalmatia, Croatia. It is located in a large bay Zlatna Luka, 7 kilometers southeast of the historic city of Zadar. It is home to almost 4,000 inhabitants. Main activities are agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fruit growing and of course tourism. The first written mention of Sukošan as a settlement dates from 1289, but there are numerous traces such as rustic villa on Barbir, the Illyrian fortress on Vrčevo and old Roman aqueduct (Vilinski zid), which shows that this village was inhabited since the time of ancient Rome. Sukošan is a beautiful and very comfortable place to rest, with a spacious and well-designed long coastline and numerous small bays, sandy and pebbly beaches, and clear sea. It is ideal for long walks in traditional narrow cobbled streets and enjoys in the many cafes, restaurants, and taverns with local specialties and wines. The first signs of organized tourism occur in the thirties of the last century when first pensions opened the door.
