Turanj is a small tourist town in the county of Zadar in Croatia. It spreads along 4 km long coastline in Pašman channel surrounded by small archipelago with 16 islets. It is connected with a beautiful promenade Lungo Mare with the neighboring town of Sveti Filip i Jakov. It was named after the towers (lat. Toretta) that were built in the 15th century to defend against frequent Turkish attacks. Until the middle of last century, the place was surrounded by a wall and three towers. In the center, there is a church dedicated to Our Lady of Carmel from the 15th century. To Turanj belongs only inhabited island in the Pašman channel, the island Babac, located 1 nautical mile from Turanj. The island can be visited by boat or taxi boats. Close to major centers such as Biograd and Zadar makes it a very attractive place for a holiday that is close enough and yet far enough from the city noise and crowds. In the center, there is a pebble beach Morovička with crystal clear waters ideal for the perfect family vacation. Along the beach on the coast are situated a lot of bars and restaurants where you can take a break from swimming and other activities and enjoy the local cuisine.
