Duga Resa is a small town in the county of Karlovac in Croatia. It is situated near Karlovac, on the banks of Mrežnica river, on the crossroads to Rijeka and Senj. It is named after a plant that grows abundantly in this area on land and in water. The history of the place dates back to the Middle Ages, and only the appearance of cotton processing factory in the late 19th century and the construction of the railway Karlovac - Rijeka, from the small village became an industrial site, and later was awarded the status of a town. It has about 12,000 inhabitants, who are mostly engaged in agriculture, the service industry, but it is still a significant cotton industry.
