Lumbarda is a small fishing village with about 1200 inhabitants. It is located in the eastern part of the island, about seven kilometers from the famous old town of Korčula. Lumbarda is built around a small bay and the sandy hills overlooking the bay and is surrounded by vast vineyards and olive groves. The road leading from the town of Korčula to Lumbarda passes through a picturesque area and the intoxicating scents of pine forests and olive groves. Lumbarda has always historically been associated with the city of Korčula. Here was in the 3rd century BC a Greek settlement, then there were the Roman peasant villas (farms), but since the 16th-century wealthy Korčula nobles and landowners built their summer homes called Kaštel in the best positions, and some of them are still well preserved. Today Lumbarda mostly lives off tourism. There are a number of hotels, restaurants, shops, camps, a large number of apartments and rooms, and a small marina.
