Novigrad is a picturesque fishing and tourist town in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is located on the west coast of Istria near the mouth of river Mirna in the Adriatic sea. It was first mentioned at the end of the 6th century, but the city has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Valuable collection of archaeological findings from this area is now kept in the city lapidary. In the 13th century, the Venetians who ruled the city changed the former name of the town Aemona in Cittanova (Novigrad). Over the centuries, Novigrad has been a fishing town, however in the seventies of the last century started to develop tourism by building hotels, camps, and numerous apartments. Nearby, you can also explore Poreč, another popular Istrian destination.
You can relax and enjoy at one of the few pebble and rocky beaches, and we emphasize Karpinjan pebble beach that stretches along 500 meters of coastline and which is ideal for families with small children.
