Dugi Otok is the largest and most remote island in the North Dalmatian islands and its name justify a length of about 45 km.
The island is wide between 1 and 4 km, very indented with numerous bays, and the highest peak on the island is Vela Straža, 338 meters high.
On the island are eleven settlements, of which Sali, Zaglav, Zman, Luka, Savar, Brbinj, Dragove and Božava are located on the east side.
Soline, Verunić and Veli Rat are located on the northwest coast in the deep bays.
Sali is the municipal and administrative center of the island and it has the most inhabitants.
The island is very well connected to the mainland and the city of Zadar by ferry and fast ferry lines.
The whole island is home to about 1500 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fishing, beekeeping, and tourism.
