Podaca was located 1 km away from the sea, but it was abandoned after the earthquake in 1962 when a place by the sea was built. Podace is mentioned for the first time in 1477 in a Turkish document. In the center of the old town a church of Sv. Ivana Krstitelja was built from the 12th -13th century and besides it a baroque church of Sv. Stjepan Prvomucenik (in 1762.) which is located in the middle of the cemetery. In the entrance to the place stands a stone tower oval in shape, which served as a defense from the Turks. Today the tourism in Podaca is concerted around the beautiful beach and private accommodation which can be found in lovely stone houses. All apartments are brand new with a new kitchen, WC, and bathrooms. For groups, we have discounts and for those who stay more than 14 days. Children under 11 50% discount, 2 years and less free of charge.
