Drvenik Veli is a beautiful small island located in the Split archipelago (between the islands of Šolta and Drvenik Mali). Drvenik Veli is widely known to sailors for Blue Lagoon (“Plava Laguna”), an attractive sandy cove surrounded by a crystal clear sea. Its coast is rich with many astonishing pebble and sand beaches and coves. The island is about 1.8 km from the mainland and it has a total surface of 11,7 km2. The highest point of the island is Buhalj (178 meters high).
The island of Drvenik Veli has been inhabited since the 15th century and until today it has remained well preserved as it does not have bigger urban settlements. The island has around 150 permanent residents that live in Drvenik Veli, the only settlement on the island. It is the perfect destination for an escape from big crowds, and popular destinations packed with tourists.
