Soline is a small tourist resort situated on the southern coast of the beautiful bay of Soline, on the eastern side of the island of Krk. Administratively it belongs to the Dobrinj municipality whose medieval castle lies above this beautiful bay on the island of Krk. Soline was named after saltworks in which sea salt was produced from Roman times until the Middle Ages. Because of the shallow and closed bay, the sea temperature inside the Soline bay is higher than outside in the Adriatic sea, so the bathing season lasts from mid-spring to late autumn. The bay of Soline offers safe shelter from all winds and is considered the safest on the whole eastern coast of the island of Krk, making it very convenient and secure for anchoring. On the banks of this spacious bay, there are 3 places: Klimno and Soline on the south coast and Čižići on the west. Apart from berths, there are shops, cafes, restaurants, ATMs. You can also find accommodation in the nearby town of Krk.
Today, Soline is known as a tourist destination mainly thanks to sand and healing mud. At the bottom of the bay is the sandy Meline beach where bathers are covered with naturally healing mud and are enjoying in the sea and sunbathing. The mud is suitable for the treatment of bone and joint diseases and skin diseases. The beach is very shallow and spacious and is great for families with small children. Near the bay of Soline, there is a small but beautiful Biserujka cave, only 110 meters long.
