Tourist info Rogoznica
Rogoznica is a popular tourist resort on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, located in the southernmost part of the Šibenik-Knin county. It is situated in a deep natural bay protected from the wind and big waves, about 30 km south of Šibenik. In Rogoznica live almost 2,500 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in olive growing, fishing and of course tourism. Most locals offer the service of affordable accommodation in apartments and rooms inside their private family homes. Rogoznica was already inhabited in 1390, and in 1518 the inhabitants fled the area in front of the Turkish army to the safety of the nearby islet of Kopari. Therefore, the old town of Rogoznica was preserved on the islet of Kopari, which was connected to the mainland by an artificial path in the second half of the 19th century. The island is covered with dense pine forest, and the old town is dominated by narrow stone houses which have retained the authentic charm of a small Dalmatian fishing village.
Beaches in Rogoznica
Along more than 54 kilometres of coastline around the bay, numerous pebble, rocky and hidden beaches offer guaranteed all-day relaxation and a memorable holiday. One of the most beautiful and most attractive beaches in Rogoznica is the pebble beach Šepurine, which flies the Blue Flag for the cleanliness of its sea and well-maintained facilities, and is ideal for families with small children. Private accommodation by the sea in Rogoznica is plentiful, with apartments and rooms in private family homes.
Sights of Rogoznica
We recommend visiting the marine aquarium in the open, the lavender labyrinth and the salt lake Zmajevo Oko (Dragon's Eye). This salt lake located on the peninsula Gradina is a unique hydro-geomorphological phenomenon surrounded by cliffs 4–24 metres high and 15 metres deep. In the immediate vicinity of Zmajevo Oko is one of the most beautiful marinas in the Adriatic — Marina Frapa, awarded the Blue Flag, with 10 piers and over 700 fully equipped berths. For all information on events and the local offer, visit the official Rogoznica website.
