Bol is a town on the south coast of the island of Brač in the Split-Dalmatia county in Croatia. It is the oldest town on the coast of Brač, and it has a population 1,600. The rich history that dates back to ancient times is evidenced by numerous archaeological finds and monuments such as the Roman aqueduct, tombstones and reliefs and early Christian sarcophagus. Its name derives from the Latin word vallum meaning burial. Above Bol rises 780 meters above sea level Vidova Gora, the highest peak of the Adriatic islands.
