Starigrad Paklenica is a town and municipality in the county of Zadar in Croatia. It is located in the northwestern part of the Zadar County at the foot of the Velebit mountain and has a population of 2000 inhabitants. Municipality of Starigrad includes the nearby village of Seline and Tribanj. The whole area is located in a protected natural environment because the whole mountain Velebit with its coast has the status of a nature park. The most interesting part of the mountain is located just in the hinterland of Starigrad, and these are the canyons of Velika and Mala Paklenica, which are due to the wealth of hydrological and geomorphological forms and rich flora and fauna were declared a national park. Here is also the highest peak of Velebit mountain, 1757 meters high Vaganski peak.
