Dobrinj is a small town on the island Krk and municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county in Croatia. It is located in the northeastern part of the island Krk at the top of the 200-meter high hill above Soline bay. Municipality of Dobrinj includes two prominent bays: Soline bay with villages Klimno and Čižići and Stipanja bay where is the largest municipal settlement Šilo. Dobrinj was first mentioned in the 12th century and it was an important Croatian Glagolitic center. During the Middle Ages, Dobrinj was the estate of the Frankopan family, thanks to its position on a hill. In the village stands out the church of St. Stephen, built-in Baroque and Gothic style. Because of the rich cultural and historical heritage of this small village there are several interesting museums, galleries and ethnographic collections that will take you back to the past of this region. Šilo is one of the youngest settlements on this part of the island, but it has a long tradition in tourism. It is located in a well-protected Stipanja bay, only 5 kilometers from Dobrinj.
