Tourist info Primošten

Primošten Primošten is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Dalmatia and one of the most picturesque small towns on the Adriatic. It is located only 27 km south of Šibenik and about 33 km north of the town of Trogir. The old part of the town lies on a small island which was in the Middle Ages connected to the mainland by a bridge. The bridge was later replaced by an embankment after there was no more Turkish threat, so Primošten became a peninsula. The parish church of St. George, erected on top of the peninsula in the 15th century, was thoroughly reconstructed in 1760 and it has a beautiful panoramic view of the open sea and distant islands. It keeps the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary with silver adornments and St. Mary with St. Luke and George, a work by Master Cusi from 1719. The town has preserved its Mediterranean atmosphere and all the characteristics of a medieval Dalmatian fishing village which is evident in its narrow stone streets and old stone houses in the old town on the peninsula. On the second peninsula Raduča, north of the old city is the Hotel Zora with a sports complex and a dense pine forest. The economy is based on farming, viticulture, olive growing, fishing, and tourism. Most residents of Primosten offers quality and affordable accommodation in apartments and rooms inside their private homes. The town is famous for its huge and beautiful vineyards. Photo of Primošten vineyards is hanging in the center of the UN in New York and represents the hard work of generations of Primošten farmers. It is also known for its beautiful kilometer-long pebbles beaches that are ideal for family holidays. The largest beach in Primosten is called Velika Raduča and the smaller part, Mala Raduča, has been named one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Croatia. There are numerous possibilities for sport and recreation: tennis, table tennis, bowling, beach volleyball, sailing, and diving. Guests can use the 50 restaurants and taverns where they can find Dalmatian specialties or famous Primošten red wine Babić. During the summer months in Primošten are held a variety of events such as the Primošten carnival, fisherman's nights and folklore evenings.
