Milna is a village and municipality on the western side of the island Brač, in the Split-Dalmatia County, in Croatia. Milna was founded in the 17th century and developed around the castle of the noble family Cerinić. At that time it grew around the church of St. Mary that was also built by noble family Cerinić. Thanks to its position in a deep and protected bay, Milna is famous as the best natural harbor on the island Brač. In the mid 19th century here was flourishing shipbuilding and in its shipyards built as many as 16 sailing ships, which sailed throughout the Mediterranean and the world's oceans. Today, instead of the shipyard in this area are three well-equipped marinas for sailors from around the world. Elegant old stone houses on the coast of Milna were once homes of ship owners and captains. If you plan to visit nearby Split, it is easily reachable from Milna.
