Vrboska is the smallest town of the island Hvar, in the municipality of Hvar in Dalmatia, Croatia. It is situated in a deep narrow bay on the north coast of the island surrounded by pine trees, vineyards, and olive groves. In Vrboska lives only 526 inhabitants. It was founded in the 15th century as a fishing port, and with the development of fisheries and trade, so was also growing well-being of the entire surrounding area. In the early 20th century, Vrboska had a sardine factory, wooden boats, hotels, fishing professional association and a regular shipping line to Split and the neighboring island of Brac. Today Vrboska is a famous tourist destination with a popular marina for yachtsmen and sailors, which is open all year and offer various and good quality accommodation in the family houses of the old town built in the Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque style. Vrboska is often referred to as Little Venice because of its numerous small bridges. For those wishing to explore the wider area, the nearby town of Hvar is just a short distance away.
