Mošćenička Draga is a small fishing and tourist town and municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county in Croatia. It is situated on the west coast of the Kvarner bay at the foot of Učka mountain and the hill on which medieval town Mošćenice is located. The settlement was named after this medieval town. It was built in the 19th century, when the inhabitants of Mošćenice started settling coast mainly due to catch fish, and later in the late 19th and early 20th century due to the development of tourism. Tourism started here when the first visitors of the nearby Opatija started coming to Mošćenička Draga on romantic trips. Soon were built first hotels and pensions, the beach and seafront promenade Lungomare. Tourism has developed rapidly thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, clear sea, preserved nature and dense forests that surround it, as well as healthy and delicious food. Today the inhabitants of Mošćenička Draga, along fishing are mainly engaged in tourism, and accommodation is offered in hotels and quality apartments, rooms, and holiday homes within private family accommodation. This place is full of charming old villas and narrow houses that are situated below the steep slopes of Učka.
