Crikvenica is a famous tourist city in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. It is situated at the mouth of a small river Dubračina in Kvarner Bay, just 35 kilometres south of the city of Rijeka. The Crikvenica Riviera consists of several settlements: Dramalj, Jadranovo and Selce. This area has been inhabited since ancient times thanks to the fertile valley of Vinodol and the pleasant Mediterranean climate. The first organised settlement was built on the site of the Roman station Ad Turres, and throughout the Middle Ages Crikvenica was an important port for Vinodol settlements under the Frankopan family. Tourism today has a very important role, but also a long tradition — as early as the late 19th century, the first public wooden bathing house was built here.
The long sandy and pebble beaches, and many quiet coves that stretch along the riviera are the biggest lures for all guests and tourists. Some of the beaches such as Balustrade and the city beach were awarded the Blue Flag — a valuable European award for very clear water and a well-maintained beach. In addition to the sun and sea, here you can enjoy sports and recreational centres, a rich gastronomic offer and cultural and entertainment events throughout the summer.
