Funtana is a small tourist town and municipality in the county of Istria in Croatia. It is situated in the central part of the West coast of Istria, just 6 kilometers south of Poreč. It was first mentioned in 13th century as a feudal estate of Poreč bishops. However, this area was settled by the Romans, testified by the remains of a Roman villa with aqueduct in the area of Green lagoon that can be seen today. Until the fifties of the last century, the residents of Funtana were mainly engaged in agriculture and fishing. In the sixties from the last century first hotels and camps in the area of Green lagoon were built.
