Olib is an island belonging to the North Dalmatian group of islands near Silba, Premuda and several smaller uninhabited islands. It lies between the island of Pag and Silba. Olib is a very indented island with numerous bays, and the shores are shallow and sandy, very suitable for yachtsmen and swimmers. The central part of the island Olib is narrowed. On the west side of the island is the only settlement on the island bearing the same name - Olib. Olib has been inhabited since ancient times, however, in the 20th century it was affected by a large wave of depopulation, so most of its inhabitants moved out in search of a better life. In Olib today lives only 150 permanent residents. The inhabitants of Olib were mainly engaged in agriculture and fisheries, but cultivated area today is largely neglected and the rest of the inhabitants live largely from tourism.
