Pirovac is a lively tourist place and municipality in the far north of the Šibenik-Knin county in Croatia. It is located 26 kilometers north of the town of Šibenik and in it lives almost 2000 inhabitants. It is situated in a deep natural bay, which is 12 km carved deep into the mainland. The first historical mention of Pirovac was in 1298, titled Zlosela. At the time, the place belonged to the old Croatian aristocratic family Šubić, and later became the property of the Šibenik Diocese and some noblemen from Šibenik. This area was inhabited in the time of the Roman Empire, revealed in historical monuments such as the remains of a Roman villa in Ivinje dating from the 1st century.
